Project goals

Within the Coala project, the intention is to develop a solution for cognitive assistance that consists of a composition of reliable AI components with a voice digital intelligent assistant as an interface.

Specifically, the project aims to:

  • Reduce the number of quality issues within the manufacturing process
  • Reduce the time required for on-the-job training of employees
  • Overcome barriers and reduce skepticism about the use of virtual voice assistants within the manufacturing work environment (e.g., the factory)
  • Improve workers' skills in managing AI opportunities, challenges, and risks in manufacturing locations (improving Human-AI collaboration)

The role of Holonix

Holonix has the dual role of IT provider and AI Ambassador.

Holonix will:

  • Implementing the functionalities of the i-like Machines platform, which is the base for the i-Live Machines product-service for industrial machinery manufacturers
  • Product Avatar

With its important role as AI Ambassador, Holonix will promote and coordinate the project contributions for the EU AI community.

Specifically, Holonix is therefore committed to introduce Coala and its concepts into the AI research and application fields, merging with interest groups, roadmaps and discussion arenas on EC programs.

Key competences to be strengthened or acquired

Thanks to its participation in the project, Holonix will acquire competences on the development of voice-controlled intelligent systems.
