In the age of Industry 4.0, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are facing increasing challenges to remain competitive in an increasingly digitalised and globalised business environment. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a powerful tool to optimize production processes and improve the overall efficiency of operations.
However, the practical adoption of AI may seem like an intimidating undertaking for many SMEs, facing financial constraints, digitalisation and expertise. This is where the KITT4SME project, a European initiative developed under Horizon2020, aims to democratise access to AI for SMEs, comes into play.
With Holonix as Solution Architect, the KITT4SME project offers a digital platform that simplifies the integration of AI into SME production systems. Through open calls and direct collaborations, Holonix provides SMEs with technical know-how and practical assistance, making AI also accessible to companies with limited resources.
The platform developed within the project adopts a modular and customized approach, allowing SMEs to adapt AI to their specific needs. Through solutions such as the Fatigue Monitoring System, the potential of AI is highlighted not only to increase productivity, but also to improve the well-being of workers and ensure data security.
Looking to the future, AI is expected to continue to play a crucial role in optimizing business operations. However, meeting the challenges of adopting AI will require educational resources, employee engagement, and customized and scalable AI solutions. Thanks to projects such as KITT4SME, SMEs can access the potential of AI and maintain their competitiveness in the modern corporate landscape.
